We are delighted to announce that the 7th International Conference of the Global Network of Public Health Nursing will be held in July 2025 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are pleased to share that the theme for this conference is Building Resilience and Innovative Solutions: Amplifying Impact and Advancing Positive Global Public Health Change.

I’m Dr. Aliyah Dosani and I’m Dr. Zahra Shajani and we will be serving as your co-chairs for the 7th International Conference of the Global Network of Public Health Nursing in Calgary.

I am a registered nurse with a Master of Public Health and a PhD in population public health. I’m a Full Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta. My program of research focuses on maternal newborn and child health, working with at risk populations through community-based programs and interventions.

I am also a registered nurse with a Master of Public Health and a Doctorate in Nursing Education. I am currently the Associate Dean for Practice Education at the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary. Our vision has been delivering nursing excellence through leadership, innovation, and resiliency. In my role, I am engaged with the local, national, and global communities.

So Aliyah, why is Calgary a great destination for this conference?

Well, Calgary is the destination of choice for the world’s most talented people to come together and find innovative solutions to solve global challenges. Calgary is easy to get to. We are a non-stop flight from many north American and European hubs, with Canada’s third most diverse city with over 120 languages spoken. Like the mountains that surround us, big things are happening here. In addition, our Rocky Mountain playground is just one hour’s drive away. First time delegates must especially take time before or after their conference to explore nearby Banff and Lake Louise. What will make Calgary an unforgettable destination for you, will be our signature warm welcome, where we hope you will feel overwhelmed with our hospitality!

We are really excited to be working with a fantastic local team with members from across Canada and across the world. More information on the conference organization committee and the scientific program will be shared with you in the coming months.

Some of the potential areas of focus will be:

  • Leveraging partnerships to tackle global health security
  • Healthy recovery after COVID-19
  • Global leadership on public health science and data
  • Climates and Environmental Change
  • And many more interesting lines of inquiry that will be confirmed shortly

We look forward to seeing you in Calgary for the 7th International Conference of Global Network of Public Health Nursing in July 2025.
