What is Public Health Nursing?

Calling all members of the Global Network for Public Health Nurses.
One of the objectives of our organization is to:
Develop a shared definition of public health nursing practice that will reflect the culture, professional traditions, social-economic climate and the policy of individual countries throughout the world. (https://www.gnphn.com/about )
To this end, I would like to invite all members to engage in a conversation about Public Health Nursing Practice. I invite all members to begin exploring this concept of public health nursing practice. I know that each of us knows about the delivery of public health nursing services in our own countries, but I would ask you to think globally. Are there basic tenants of public health nursing that cross geographical, philosophical, governmental and ideological boundaries? What is Public Health Nursing Practice? Where do we agree…where do we differ.
To start the conversation, I would like to share a document created under the direction of the Public Health Nursing Section of the American Public Health Association. If anyone has documents from your own countries to share and help us as we engage in this conversation, please post them to the blog so they can add to our understanding and inform our discussion. Thank you all so much. I very much look forward to our continuing conversation.
Sincerely,
Linda Reveling Smith
