Prof. Dan C.O. Kaseje, Professor of Public Health, Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH)
Dan is a full professor of Public Health at the Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH) in Africa. He obtained his PhD in Tropical Medicine from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, MPH in Tropical Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health and Medical Degree, MBChB, from the University of Nairobi. He has been involved in the promotion of community based health care in many parts of the world for over 40 years. As a Public Health expert, he has led several networks for Primary health care such as the Christian Medical Commission of the World Council of Churches, International Federation of the Red Cross, Africa Action network for Health (Afri-CAN), and Universities in Solidarity with disadvantaged communities (UNISOL).
Over the past years he has been actively engaged in health systems research and development, with a health systems performance improvement. He spearheaded the development of the community health strategy, a framework adopted by the Kenyan Government for the implementation of the essential care package for health. He has led public health interventions in fragile states such as Sierra Leone, and Arab Republic of Syria. He has authored/co-authored more than 100 refereed journal articles and book chapters. He is an Honorary Member, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), TDR Fellow, and Fellow, the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine, Member, International Epidemiology Association and Member, International Union for the Scientific Study of Population.
