Dr David Weakliam

Prof. David Weakliam is a specialist in Public Health Medicine and has worked in global health since 1988, including 12 years in Nepal, Liberia, Sudan and DR Congo.  He currently leads the Global Health Programme in the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE).  He manages a partnership between the HSE and Irish Aid and has facilitated the development of bilateral programmes between the Irish health service and Ministries of Health in Mozambique, Zambia, Sudan and Ethiopia.  He is Chair of the Global Health Workforce Network and was co-chair of the organising committee for the Fourth Global Forum on Human Resources for Health, in Dublin in 2017.  He is currently Chair of the ESTHER Alliance for Global Health Partnerships and is a Director of several NGOs including Tearfund Ireland, Nepal Leprosy Trust Ireland and Cherish International.  He is Adjunct Professor at University College Dublin and teaches extensively on global health.
